Ladysmith Black Mambazo - No Boundaries

This album was composed in 2003 as commissioned by the MIAGI Festival of South Africa. The live recording of the premiére was studio remixed in 2004. The integration of classical and African musical styles has been one of MIAGI's goals. Since the end of  Apartheid  Robert Brooks, founder of this project, has provided a vehicle for artists of various musical backgrounds and styles.

Thus it was Roux's task to present the "isicathamiya" vocal style of this world renowned group within an orchestral framework. The main body of arrangements concentrates on original songs by the group, but three classical songs of the European tradition and two new titles were included.

The strings of the English Chamber Orchestra under the baton of star conductor Ralf Gothoni were engaged for this project.
The resulting album was nominated for a GRAMMY award in 2006.
